BlizzCon 2010: There's nerd and then there's NEEEERRRRRDD :)

Lann says...

You, sir,

>> ^Ryjkyj:

This is why I can't help but doubt the whole "Geek is chic", "nerdcore" scene. When I was growing up, nerds were not cool. That's easy enough. But the #1 defining characteristic of being a nerd, geek, etc, was not your knowledge of computers or whether-or-not you played D&D, it was that you WERE NOT COOL... Period. Very, very few other people respected any additional intelligence, skill or natural talent you might have had. You were just a nerd and tried to keep your head low so that nobody beat the shit out of you.
Now we have this whole scene of in-shape, good looking hipsters that wear non-prescription glasses and talk about what a geek they were in high-school because they were in drama whatever. Yeah, everyone feels like they were pretty stupid in high-school once they get out into the real world a learn a thing or two.
Then we have this guy. Would most people look forward to sitting around talking trolls with this guy for a few hours? No. He's socially awkward and that's the whole fucking point. I'm sure he has good friends that respect and love him and I'm sure he's a great guy, but the dude is not chic. He's not "core". And most likely, he never freaking will be. This video is proof. It's only much later in life that most of us learn to respect people for who they are and for what they are truly worth.
Point: If you have to tell people what a geek you were or are, you probably never were and never will be. Let's let the geeks and nerds of the world have at least one fucking thing we don't take away from them.

'Watched your Nerd Core video. 'Didn't know if you had seen the trailer for a documentary about the musicians:

I saw the documentary in October 2008 at the New Orleans Film Festival. Director/producer Dan Lamoureux, High-C and Monzy were on hand for a Q & A session.

Roster of the artists in the film:

These are the films I've seen thus far:

• "Happy-Go-Lucky"
• "Nerdcore for Life"
• "Happiness Is"
• "How to Be"
• "In Search of a Midnight Kiss"

None of the films disappointed me. The festival is spread across three locations that are not close to one another. Some films run late. Some films have a director for a Q & A session.

"Nerdcore for Life" not only had the director/producer Dan Lamoureux, but High-C and Monzy on hand for a Q & A session.

"How to Be" attracted a huge crowd of young women.
