My highly sophisticated vote recovery plan

I'm plowing through all the sifted videos from newest to oldest, and upvoting all the ones I know that I voted for.  I'm on page 56 right now (which has taken me about an hour, because I had to view a few seconds of some videos to make sure I was voting for the correct ones), out of 3420 pages of sifted videos.  Almost 2% there!  Memory is fragile, and mine's no exception, so expect me to screw up by overlooking some of your videos that you know I voted for.  Please don't take it personally if I miss one or even several of your videos. I'm just going to do my best.

Going from newest to oldest (or oldest to newest) is the only way I can think of to spread the votes around fairly.  I hope to do at least 25 pages a day, with 50 to 100 pages of videos per day being my goal, which means it could take anywhere from one to four months to go through them all.  And of course new videos will be continually added, so in actuality it will take longer. Oh well.

I will try to keep up on new submissions too, and I will also venture into PQs from time to time. However the thrust of my attack will still be to go from newest to oldest of the sifted videos. Maybe dag and/or lucky will figure out a way to recover votes soon so we won't have to do all of this. But I'm going to do this in the mean time, in case they can't figure it out.

Patience, grasshoppers.

Don't forget that the bookmarks were not lost. You don't have that many but I see a few videos there.
I have like 50 pages of bookmarks so it came very helpful, since I have a lot of favorites in there.

I wish I could give you a *quality for this.

I've just been going via profiles of people who frequently sifted videos I like, and plan to also get to channels that I like later on. It's going to take a long time to get the votes back to where they were, but like other have said, this is a great community and people are putting in a lot of effort already. Star points, amounts of videos sifted, etc, don't really matter, the great thing about this site is the many fantastic people that populate it.

A thanks to all of you.

By now I've gone through some 30+ members' profiles so far and I've still got 50+ tabs open to sift through

What I didn't like seeing though was that a couple of those folks had ALL of their sifts upvoted by someone else. I realize me going through specific users' queues and all is already preferential treatment that usually shouldn't be encouraged, but simply upvoting everything really defeats the whole purpose.

I went through all my own posts first, because I knew I upvoted them in the first place. Nextup is all my playlists, which I upvoted too.

I'm not sure, I want to go though all ALL the videos, because I probably didn't do that before anyway. I dunno what I'll do, maybe a tag search looking for similar topics. (All south park, for instance.)

On the upside, I can decide to downvote things I've been on the fence with before and accidental downvotes are essentially fixed by this,

My list, playlists, member lists, tag searches, the random button.

I think it's pointless for people to be submitting anything right now. I'd love to be able to discourage that for a few days so we can all concentrate on the clear up.

I agree. One thing that could happen is that since everyone is upvoting upvoting upvoting, then the recently sifted videos get most of the votes, (like that daily show post currently at 70+, that's a huge gap over the other posts worthy of that number of votes but that are older.) the unsifted get another big chunk of the votes, and then people get tired or lazy and don't bother going through the older posts.
